Poinsettias kill puppies.
I’m always super inspired by holidays… Seriously, I’m stupidly excited for Groundhog Day. These patriotic nails were no exception, so HAPPY PRESIDENTS DAY!
Feathers have been popping up everywhere over the last few months so I decided nails should be included in the trend as well. To make these I used an array of rustic shades including Power Clutch, Lady Like, Very Structured, and Carry On which make up almost all of the Essie Fall collection. And to create the feathers I used OPI’s Alpine Snow and OPI’s Onyx on my Orly Detailer brush. Then to top it off bedazzlethatshit style I added some Art Deco Gold Glitter to the middle of some of the feathers for dimension.
Looking back at my Holiday posts, I realized I needed some designs that were a bit toned down. This is what I came up with because although it’s still a fun glitter nail, it is a lot more subtle and wearable for those who are just venturing out. Welcome to the dark side ;)
This is Zoya’s Minka, which I got in my birchbox a few months back and adore, with Sally Hansen’s Gem Crush in 03 Big Money applied to the tips with a makeup sponge. Happy New Years!
In true “bedazzlethatshit” fashion, I’ve been sporting the glittery combination of Sally Hansen’s Celeb City over Milani’s 530 Gems. This is one of many rainbow glitter nail polishes that are becoming popular right now after the take off of OPI’s Rainbow Connection and Deborah Lippman’s Happy Birthday. Often I’m opposed to thinner brushes, like Milani’s, but I loved having that with the glitter because it made it easy to spread individual flakes.
I love this metallic/glittery combination. It’s perfect in anticipation of New Year’s because the monochromatic element keeps it understated enough for day time. This is Milani’s 531 Gold from the Jewel Collection layered on top of Orly’s Rage which is their infamous Rose Gold. I did have to work with the glitter to disperse the flakes evenly but other than that I love love love it.
So here are my super juvenile candy cane french tip Christmas day nails. Even though I would’ve loved these in elementary school, the simplicity still makes me smile. I used Ulta’s Angel Baby, Sinful Color’s 948 Last Chance, Essie’s Size Matters, and later I ended up adding Confetti’s Ice Ice Baby. All of it was put together with my Orly Detailer and topped off with a coat of Seche Vite!
Merry Christmas everyone, Phillipians 1:3
